Christi Friesen - Creature Feature

This day will be a romp through designs and materials! We will add resin, metal coatings and steampunk styling to our polymer clay work!
We will begin with a Celtic-style beast where we will learn to weave and knot the clay to create a sinuous creature.
Then we will coat it with special metal coatings to transform it into copper, bronze, iron or silver. Special patina fluids are added and you will watch your piece age before your eyes until you have a piece that looks like it should belong in the British Museum!
Then it's resin time!
We will use sheet mica, open rings and resin to create a "slice of water" piece that shows off an aquatic creature in his watery dwelling.
Resin is used as the water and it's such a perfect companion to polymer clay that you won't want to stop experimenting with it!

But one more fun project awaits...
Time to create a stylized bird that can be worn as a brooch, pendant or used as a wall piece or ornament.
In addition to learning sculptural techniques, you will adorn your bird with your choice of accents - crystal glamour or nostalgic steampunk.

All the projects emphasize sculptural techniques, design and composition elements, surface treatments, and of course, adding bead and mixed media embellishments to make polymer pop!
